Moving is free, and we do the boring parts
We will migrate your world, mods, configs and schedules at no charge, run both servers in parallel until yours is proven, and not bill you twice for the overlap.
The four complaints that bring people here
Each of these has a specific technical cause. Knowing which one you have tells you whether moving will actually help.
“It runs fine until wipe night, then everyone rubber-bands.”
Almost always an oversold node. Check CPU steal time from inside your server — if it is consistently above a few percent, you are being descheduled by neighbours and no amount of configuration will fix it.
“Support takes two days and then sends a template.”
Usually a host that has outsourced first-line support to people who have never administered a game server. There is no configuration fix for this one.
“The price doubled at renewal.”
A promotional first term. Common, legal, and worth checking for before you sign anywhere — including here. Our renewal price is the price on the plan.
“They null-routed us during an attack.”
Null-routing sheds the attack by taking you offline, which protects the host rather than the customer. Real filtering scrubs traffic at the edge and leaves your server reachable.
“A mod update broke it and there was no backup.”
Either backups were an add-on nobody bought, or they were stored on the same disk as the server. A backup on the same hardware as the thing it protects is not a backup.
“I cannot get at my own files.”
Some hosts lock the file system to a mod whitelist to reduce support load. It works, right up until you need to do something they did not anticipate.
How to judge a host without taking their word for it
Every host claims fast hardware, real support and DDoS protection. These are the questions where the answer is checkable, and where a vague reply tells you something.
What CPU, specifically?
Ryzen 9 9950X / 7950X3DNot "high performance" or "enterprise grade" — a model number. Game servers are bottlenecked by single-thread performance, so a 5.7 GHz desktop part beats a 32-core server part. A host that will not name the chip is usually running something cheap and many-cored.
What percentage of a node do you sell?
70% capThis is the question almost nobody answers, and it is the one that determines whether your server holds up at peak. We cap allocation at 70% of real capacity and stop selling on a node when it fills. A host without a number here does not have a policy.
Do you null-route under attack?
NeverAsk directly. Null-routing is cheap for the host and means your server is offline for the duration. Edge filtering costs the host money and keeps you online. Plenty of "DDoS protected" hosting is the former.
Where are backups stored, and are they included?
Off-node, included, 14 daysOn the same disk is not a backup — a drive failure takes both. Ask where they live, how long they are kept, and whether restoring costs anything. Ours are off-node, nightly, fourteen days, and free to restore.
What does it renew at?
The same pricePromotional first terms are everywhere. Get the renewal figure in writing before you order. We do not run introductory pricing, which makes this a short conversation.
Do I get full file access?
SFTP + browser editorSome hosts restrict the file system or limit mods to an approved list. That is a legitimate way to cut support costs, and a bad fit for anyone doing something unusual. Ask before you find out.
Who answers the tickets?
Engineers who run serversAsk a technical pre-sales question and see what comes back. A specific answer from someone who has clearly administered a server tells you more than any uptime figure on the homepage.
What does leaving cost?
Nothing — full file accessYou should be able to download your entire world without asking permission. If getting your data out requires a ticket, that is worth knowing before you put six months of a community into it.
Ask us all of these before you order. If an answer here ever turns out to be wrong, that is a refund and we would rather you held us to it.
We do the tedious part
-
01
Tell us what you run
Game, rough player count, mod list, and whether anything lives in a database. One message; no sales call.
-
02
We stand it up alongside
Your new server is built and configured to match while the old one keeps running. Nobody is offline and nothing is committed yet.
-
03
We move the data
World, saves, configs, plugin data, databases and schedules. For clusters and large modpacks we do it ourselves rather than talking you through it.
-
04
You cut over when ready
Usually at a time your community is asleep. Run both in parallel as long as you like — we do not bill for the overlap.
What we will tell you not to do
If you send us your setup and moving to us would be a downgrade, we will say so. That happens more than you would expect:
- You are on a dedicated box and want a game plan. If you are running more than about six servers, the arithmetic usually favours staying on dedicated hardware — ours or anyone's.
- Your problem is not the host. If your Rust server is struggling because of entity count or a badly written plugin, moving it here will change nothing, and we would rather point that out than take the order. Our wipe-day performance guide covers the diagnostic order.
- You are mid-term on something cheap that works. If it works, finish the term. We will still be here.
If you would rather do it yourself
Entirely reasonable, and the process is not complicated. Our migration guide walks through it in the order that avoids the usual mistakes — chiefly, not cancelling the old host until the new one has survived a real evening.
Migration
questions
Still stuck? Our team answers tickets in about 8 minutes, 24/7/365.
Nothing, and there is no double billing during the overlap period. It is not generosity — a migration that goes badly becomes a refund request, so we would rather spend the hour getting it right.
For a single world, typically ten to thirty minutes at a time you choose. For clusters or very large modded servers, plan for an hour. Because both servers run in parallel until cutover, the downtime is the cutover itself rather than the whole migration.
Then you have not cancelled the old one yet, which is why we insist on the overlap. Beyond that the 72-hour refund applies to your first payment, no questions asked.
Any host that gives you your files — which should be all of them. If yours will not release your data, tell us and we will help you work out what you can salvage, though we cannot promise everything.
Only the new address, and only if you connect by IP. If you use a domain we update the DNS and most people never notice. Setting up an SRV record during the move means the next one is invisible too.
Yes, and that is common. We stage them so your community is never fully down, and if you are moving more than about four, our community packages are usually cheaper than the equivalent individual plans.
Your server could be running before you finish this sentence.
Pick a game, pick a region, pick your slots. We handle the rest - and if it is not right within 72 hours, you get your money back.
